Sharon K. Sayre Obituary, ATHENS, Ohio — Sharon K. Sayre, 79, of Athens, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at her residence. She was born on June 16, 1947, in Athens County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Donald and Lovella “Sue” Koon Cook.
Sharon was a graduate of the Buchtel York Class of 1965, where she earned the distinction of salutatorian. Following her education, she dedicated 42 years of service to McBee’s before retiring.
Throughout her life, Sharon identified joy in simple moments and cherished time spent with loved ones. She enjoyed shopping with her mother and aunts, as well as making clothes and creating crafts during her free time.
Among her greatest joys was spending time with her grandson, Seth Sayre. Those moments remained among her most treasured memories and reflected the importance she placed on loved ones connections.
Sharon is survived by her two sons, Michael (Kristin) Sayre of Athens and Steven Sayre of Jacksonville, along with her grandson, Seth Sayre of Amanda, Ohio.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband, Larry Sayre; her brother, Ronnie Cook; and her beloved aunts, Eileen Koon, Dorothy Koon, Ruth Koon, and Kate Koon.
Funeral services for Sharon K. Sayre will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville, with Jon Hanning officiating. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Glouster. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
