Monica L. Will and David D. Will Obituary, MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. — Monica L. Will, 46, and her husband, David D. Will, 44, were killed in a double homicide at their home on Middle Grave Creek Road in Marshall County early Thursday, October 1, 2026. Their deaths have left their two children, family members, friends and members of the local area grieving.
The event commenced at approximately 1:40 a.m. when Marshall County 911 received a call from the residence, but no one spoke on the line. Deputies responded to the home and encountered 25-year-old Cyle B. Fabrizio, of Moundsville, who law enforcement remarked fired a pistol at deputies as they approached the residence.
Based on to Marshall County Sheriff Mike Dougherty, Fabrizio later appeared in the doorway holding a juvenile girl at gunpoint. A deputy fired one round from a rifle, striking Fabrizio. He passed away as a result of the officer-involved shooting. Deputies then entered the residence and discovered Monica and David Will, both of whom had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
Preliminary findings released by authorities indicate that Fabrizio initially approached the home and shot Monica Will through a window before entering the residence and shooting David Will. Investigators remarked Fabrizio had grievances involving the couple stemming from a previous occurrence and were also examining his interest in the couple’s juvenile daughter. Law enforcement said the parents had opposed a relationship because of the age difference.
The couple’s two children, a 16-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son, were noted physically safe and placed in the care of relatives. Their identities have not been released. The probe remains focused on the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Monica and David as well as the deputy-involved shooting that ended with Fabrizio’s passing.
Monica Will was an English teacher at John Marshall High School, where her death brought an immediate response from Marshall County Schools. All academic, athletic and adult education activities at the school were canceled Thursday, October 1, while counseling services were made available to students and staff. Classes were scheduled to resume Friday, October 2.
School officials also canceled the school’s homecoming parade while other homecoming and school-sponsored events were expected to continue. Authorities extended their condolences to Monica’s children, family, friends, colleagues and students and encouraged the school community to support one another as they cope with the loss.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and West Virginia State Police are continuing to investigate the double homicide and the officer-involved shooting.
