Mike DiTondo Obituary, LOWER TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Mike DiTondo, 56, has died following a fatal motor vehicle crash on Route 9 in the Erma section of Lower Township, New Jersey, on October 1, 2026. Another man was seriously injured in the collision.
Based on to the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, DiTondo was one of two occupants in a vehicle that was involved in the crash. A 36-year-old man who was also in the vehicle suffered serious injuries. Authorities have not released additional information about the injured man.
The fatal collision led to the arrest of 19-year-old Edward McVey of Erma. Following an probe by the Lower Township Police Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, McVey was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide involving DUI, third-degree assault by auto involving DUI, and fourth-degree assault by auto involving a handheld device.
Authorities revealed the charges on October 2. The prosecutor’s office said the inquiry remains ongoing, while additional details about the sequence of events and evidence supporting the charges have not been released.
McVey was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending further court proceedings. The charges are allegations, and McVey is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
