Edi Mari Hernandez Chacon Obituary, CHICAGO, Ill. — Seven-year-old Edi Mari Hernandez Chacon, also known as Eddimar Hernandez, has passed away after she was allegedly stabbed while walking with her mother in Chicago’s East Chatham neighborhood on Saturday morning, October 3, 2026.
The attack occurred at approximately 11:55 a.m. in the 8600 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue near East 86th Street. According to police, Edi Mari was walking southbound with her mother when an adult woman who did not know the child approached and allegedly stabbed her multiple times in the back.
Edi Mari was taken to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment following the attack. She later lost her life from her injuries at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Edi Mari Hernandez Chacon.
